No OSU Gas PlantThe Ohio State University is constructing a combined heat and power plant (CHP) on its campus. This plant will produce thermal energy and electricity for OSU’s main campus, but will run on natural gas, a nonrenewable resource that is obtained by fracking. We continue to stand in solidarity with those fighting to end all fossil fuel infrastructure on OSU's campus.

#GreenOut22
"As Procter & Gamble executives took center stage at CES 2020... to tout their sustainability initiatives, youth activists upset over the company’s greenwashing have been overwhelming social media platforms TikTok and Instagram to air their grievances in dozens of viral videos and posts seen by more than 300,000 people. The influencers are calling out the Charmin toilet paper brand and raising concerns about declining caribou habitat, boreal forest destruction, and Indigenous sovereignty in Canada, where the company sources some of its fiber."

Strike Against P&G's Forest Destruction
On October 7th, our Cincinnati members "went on strike" with the animals of the Boreal Forest to stop Charmin's destructive environmental practices and disrespect of indigenous sovereignty. P&G has since announced that, with 67 votes, they have passed a shareholder resolution committing to eliminating the company's deforestation efforts. We are so proud to have stood in solidarity with Stand.Earth and Young Activists Coalition. With unified, radical action we can win!

Environmental Justice is Racial Justice Banner Drop
September 25th was designated as 2020's global day of climate action. But, organizing in a pandemic can be tricky and life-threatening to our communities. So in 2020 our actions looked a little bit different. Instead of hosting a protest or rally, OHYCJ dropped banners all across the state advocating for an end to environmental racism. We demand systemic climate action that acknowledges the communities of color already being hurt by this crisis. Environmental Justice is Racial Justice.
Environmental Racism Webinar
OHYCJ was so excited to announce our Environmental Racism webinar! The discussion was held on August 29th at 6pm and was an insightful conversation about the effects of environmental racism in Ohio. Videos from the conversation will be available soon!

November 2019 Climate Strike
In solidarity with their peers around the world, Ohio students went on strike against corporate greed and government inaction on one of the greatest political challenges of their generation. Black Friday 2019, climate organizers protested the mass consumerism of the holiday in which corporations across the country will be marketing an unsustainable future to the American public.
Week for Future
Starting on Friday, September 20th, 2019, climate organizers around the world kicked off a week of climate action. Beginning with a global climate strike on the 20th, the week was all about using people power to stop “business as usual” in the face of the climate crisis. Ohio strikers called on everyone: young people, parents, workers, and all concerned citizens to join us in demanding an end to the age of fossil fuels and a beginning to the age of emergency action to avoid a climate crisis. Ohio Climate Strike held several events throughout the week; from the climate strike on the 20th to town halls and people’s assemblies.
